On Thursday, June 13th the Dance/USA membership stepped out to Celebrate its annual Honors Celebration and Cocktail reception in Philadelphia at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. Within the celebration, three recognitions were made. One recognition went to Joan Myers Brown for the "honor" recognition for extraordinary leadership within the dance field from her work with her company PHILADANCO to her involvement with the International Association of Blacks in Dance. The second recognition, or the "Ernie" recognition went to Barbara Weisberger for her work done "behind the scenes" as the founding Artistic Director of the Pennsylvania Ballet. The third and final honor went to Sharon Gersten Luckman. Sharon served as the Executive Director for Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre for 18 seasons and she received the Dance/USA Trustee award.
